Chatel doesn’t offer a crazy apres scene unlike other resorts but it still caters well for those who still enjoy a drink or two after a long day on the mountain.
The village does have a handful of surprisingly lively pubs and bars with some more relaxed nightlife spots thrown in as well.
Plus there’s plenty of non-ski activities to enjoy once you’re off the mountain from English cinema nights to bowling and ice skating.

L’Avalanche
This British-run pub that’s open until the early hours should meet your party cravings. You’ll find live DJs and bands there several days of the week and, like most pubs, major sports events are aired on the TVs. Ideal for an après ski or a night out.
They put regular updates on their Facebook page, so check that out if you want to know when the next band is playing or what they’re showing on the screens.
Lion D’or
If you are looking for a late night of Europop and old-school techno, here you can release the rest of your energy from your day on the mountain.
Nazca Bar
On the sunny side of the village near the Super-Chatel chairlift, Nazca serves tapas from 6:30pm and there’s a great vibe straight off the slopes. More of a lounge bar than dancing on the tables, though they do sometimes have live music. It’s where to come for a quieter drink in a recently renovated interior.
Le Fer Rouge
If you fancy some decent beer then this is the spot for you. It’s a micro-brewery serving up some fantastic artisan beers. Technically it is just out of town, so you will have to drive here or catch a taxi but the food and drinks are definitely worth the effort. Happy hour is between 6-7pm and is buy one get one free so definitely worth timing it right.
