We know that eating plays a big part of your skiing holiday – after a long morning or day of skiing, there is nothing better than sitting down to a well-earned meal, whether that be a traditional French dish or simply a satisfying pizza.

But what if you are away from your chalet or hotel? or if you don’t want to prepare your own meal on return to your apt? We have put together a list of the restaurants that we think are worth paying a visit.

Le Sauget – Montchavin

Le Sauget

A fantastic old fashioned, mountain refuge-style restaurant situated at the top of the Montchavin lift.  You will be greeted with a warm welcome and a roaring log fire. Le Sauget serves delicious Savoyard specialities and it is definitely worth reserving a table for lunch as it does fill up.

Le Lissonnay – Champagny

The Laisonnay refuge is situated in the heart of the Champagny Le Haut Valley.

The restaurant is set a little way back from the piste and is open from February onwards.

Traditional lunches are cooked on an open fire – this place is a real gem.

Le Chalet Des Colosses – Plagne Bellecôte

Located next to the Colossus chairlift in Plagne Bellecôte, this is a chalet-style restaurant serving traditional specialities as well as a stone grill and curry dishes.

La Rossa – Champagny

La Rossa is located at the top of the Champagny gondola and offers fantastic views from its large South facing terrace.

It has friendly staff and good basic cooking including Savoyard specialities, a selection of pizzas and its famous Tarte Tatin!

Great for a reasonably priced lunch.

Chalet des Verdons Sud –  Champagny

Chalet des Verdons Sud is the perfect place for a long late lunch!

It is located above Champagny and has a large sunny terrace with fabulous views.

Inside are cosy wooden surroundings with a logs fire.

The extensive menu includes Savoyard dishes and a good value Plat du Jour.

La Bergerie – Plagne Villages

La Bergerie enjoys a brilliant slope side location at the top of La Bergerie chairlift and on the ski down back to resort.

It provides friendly and efficient service and some excellent dishes, including tartiflette, burgers, pasta dishes and crêpes.

There is a large terrace with a DJ in the afternoon, making it a great spot for an end of the day beer!
