The Best Veriber Apres Ski Bars

Verbier Apres Ski needs little introduction, it boasts some of the best après ski and nightlife in the Swiss Alps, with its vast amount of lively and sophisticated bars.

There is an intoxicating mix of fashionable bars, traditional-style pubs and cosmopolitan discos (open until the early hours), creating one of the most exciting après ski scenes in the Alps.

Apres ski in Verbier may be throbbing but it comes at a cost, be warned, drinks can be expensive.

Ice Cube

Verbier Apres Ski starts here at 3 pm daily. Regarding music and vibe, think a mini chilled out Ibiza poolside bar, but in the Swiss Alps!

If you feel that après ski needs a kick start, ask about the shot ski that is kept behind the bar- a fun way to get friends and family involved!

Bar 1936

The fun starts at Bar 1936 on the mountain; you can enjoy a relaxing drink while soaking up the sun after a hard days skiing.

The bar is located on the run down from les Ruinettes to Verbier and most days when the sun is shining you will find a house band playing until 5 pm.

Cheaper than most and with plenty of deck chairs!

Big Ben Pub

This bar is great and lively on a sunny afternoon; you can enjoy a relaxing drink in the outside area.

Located at the bottom of the Medran lift, making it a convenient drop in after a day’s skiing in Verbier.

In the evening, the crowd is quite young with a lot of local Swiss national frequenting it.

Fer a Cheval

As Apres moves from off the slopes down into the centre of Verbier, the Fer a Cheval kicks into life.

The Fer a Cheval not only attracts holiday makers but also the locals. If you are looking to find somewhere to sit and have a quiet drink this isn’t the place to go, you will struggle to find a table.

The atmosphere is buzzing.

There is also a downstairs restaurant if you fancy a bite to eat after après ski.

The menu offers a great range or pizza, pasta and salads and other dishes such as the chefs signature steak tartare.

Pub Mont Fort

Verbier Apres Ski

Probably the most famous bar in Verbier, it is the place to be. Verbier apres ski mecca.

Situated just up the hill from the offshore cafe, leave your skis at the Medran and head up to enjoy happy hour which runs between 4 pm and 5 pm.

If you find that you are a little peckish after a hard days skiing (or recovering from the night before!) try one of their vast bowls of Nachos with Chilli- too much for one, so definitely worth sharing!

To get the party started to order one of their ‘Shakers’- a cocktail mixer filled to the brim with their signature shots mixes, a great way to toast the wicked wipeouts, wonderful skiing and what is to come!

Apres Ski at Farinet

Farinet is the only place in Verbier that showcases live bands every day throughout the season.

With an extensive shot list, huge sliding roof (for when it all gets too hot and sweaty) and a commanding position over the main square, it is no surprise that their staff wear t-shirts with the bar’s slogan ‘a drink resort with a ski problem’.

Verbier Apres Ski doesn’t generally get going before 6.30pm and is always expected to go on until roughly 9 pm.

In peak weeks, get there early to grab yourself a portion of the raised benches so that you get the best view of the live band and general mosh pit that seems to happen when it all gets going! Prepare to get covered in beer!

Farinet Lounge

Farinet Lounge

If you are looking for a more cocktail-orientated environment, try the Farinet lounge with its open fires, comfy sofas, low lighting and large internal window aptly placed to watch the crazy, crowded après ski.

Their large and inventive cocktail list and extensive ‘top shelf’ ensures that there is something for everyone.

Open daily from 4 pm to 1.30am; they also serve great little Asian inspired bar snacks such as tempura prawns, teriyaki chicken and spring rolls.

Each Saturday, during the season Hed Kandi joins the DJ line up to take you into the early hours.

During busy weeks, table reservations can be made by phoning directly to Hotel Farinet.

Etoile Rouge

If you are still up for dancing, then you should head to the Casbah.

Casbah used to be situated underneath Farinet but has now moved premises and is located in the old Casbah/Public/ Coco premises underneath Hotel Bristol in Place Centrale.

This is where both seasonnaires and visitors to the resort hang out and dance to cheesy rock and pop.

A modern take on the Moroccan Bedouin tent theme that encompassed the original Casbah/Rokbah location, it now has a central dance floor with booths around it that can be reserved.

Beers start at 9chf and long drinks from 15chf.

It attracts a younger crowd than the Farm Club (mainly those in their twenties and early thirties). Open 11pm-4am.

Farm Club

Farm Club
Farm Club

Originally appearing 1971, Farm Club is a Verbier institution and the single most famous nightclub in the Alps- famous, that is, for its outrageously high prices.

It retains its crown as Verbier’s most expensive playground where the resort’s most glamorous visitors and residents come to the party.

It has a sort of glamorous 70’s feel, and we think this saying is totally appropriate- ‘If only the walls could talk…’!  Expensive in Verbier terms with bottles of spirits starting at 250chf, bottles of champagne at 220chf and long drinks at 20chf.

There’s no entrance fee but book a table as it’s the only way to ensure entry.

Located on the Rte de Verbier on the right-hand side of the road as you head away from Place Centrale. Open 11pm-4am.

Carve

A new nightclub opening for the 2013/2014. Located sur la neige in the W Hotel on Place Blanche, Carve is an underground nighttime destination set to rival Farm Club, with expensive cocktails, a large top shelf and an abundant supply of magnums.

With guest DJs to help you dance your way through into the early hours, it’s sure to be a fun place with a large mixture of international and Swiss clientele.

Open 11pm- 4am

We have one the largest growing collections of hotels in Verbier and well as a range of apartment residences and great prices.

Now you know Verbier is a great apres ski resort, what about your ski accommodation?
