Mountain Restaurants in Corvara, Italy

Our 5 favourite mountain restaurant in Corvara

Part of the South Tirol it came as a surprise and great delight that the food here has both Austrian and Italian influences. We’d say the best of both. Hearty Austrian dishes with delightful Italian refinement – the mountain restaurants in Corvara provide the ultimate mountain nosh!

We’ve established that food is a highlight here but where can you find the best spots?

Being rightfully proud of their mountain restaurants, Corvara has marked each and every mountain hut clearly on the local piste map (by name as well). There are even gourmet food tours you can do by skis, check out ‘a taste for skiing‘ and ‘peaks of gastronomy‘. No other valley in the Alps has a higher concentration of highly decorated mountain restaurants as the Alta Badia region (Corvara is part of this).

Cosy mountain huts, rustic farms and traditional Ladin fare is all the rage with some welcomed refinement including two Michelin starred establishments. Here we take you through our favourite mountain restaurants in Corvara, those you won’t want to leave.

1. La Veranda

Up by the Col Alto ski lift, La Veranda is not to be missed. Arguably the highlight of the mountain restaurant scene, you’ll find every dish divine. The lower level restaurant is the place to be. The views are unbeatable and the wine list extensive. It’s not a cheap lunchtime stop but it’s worth every penny in our eyes.

2. Rifugio Punta Trieste

punta triest restaurant in Corvara

Reached via the Pralongia chair lift, you get great views with your food and the best ribs in town. The wild boar ribs are incredible, it’s a bbq speciality place so you can expect all kinds of charred meats. It can be busy during peak weeks so we’d recommend booking or having a later lunch (we’re all for a long late lunch followed by early apres for a day of ultimate indulgence).

3. Piz Arlara

Piz Arlara restaurant in Corvara

At a lofty 2,040m, you get 360-degree views from this mountain restaurant. Serving up traditional Tyrolean and Ladin dishes with a Mediterranean twist. The food looks and taste good what more do you want? Stunning views? check. Friendly atmosphere? check. Satisfying post-lunch feeling of wanting a cosy nap? check. It’s great value for the region and you can easily spend a few hours off the mountain here.

4. Utia de Bioch

Uetia de Bioch restaurant in Corvara

Technically in San Cassiano, this place is all about the service. Friendly staff with quick and attentive service. It may not be the best looker on the mountain but the food is wonderful and the beers flowing. On the run down to San Cassiano, the great atmosphere makes it a good pit stop, don’t forget to grab dessert.

5. Refugio Las Vegas

Las Vegas Lodge restaurant in Corvara

Las Vegas stands out in Corvara, casting aside the traditional mountain hut feel with cool minimalist lines, it’s a place that definitely makes you feel special. Sweeping huge glass windows let you admire uninterrupted views or you can sit out on the terrace. The pizzas are great here but there’s plenty of choice. A ski instructors favourite so you know it must be good.

So there you have our five favourite mountain restaurants in Corvara. To be honest the food is so good here you can’t really go wrong when it comes to eating on the mountain. Try something new every day and you’re in for a treat. If you fancy skiing here this year (or next) take a peek at the resort page or give our ski experts a ring and they can find the right place for you.
