The Best Chamonix Apres Ski Bars

Chamonix Apres Ski Is Kicking OFF!

Chamonix apres ski offers a lively and enjoyable range of bars and clubs for all needs. From the wild table, top dancing bars to the lounge around and open fire bars.

Basically a little city, you won’t be able to sample all the bars in town if you’re here for a week or less. It’s a very cosmopolitan experience and differs from your usual ski resort. It’s like a night on the town as much as post ski drinks.

Most bars have a fantastic atmosphere and buzzing vibes. Packed from the early afternoon and well into the evening with locals and holidaymakers alike enjoying a well-earned boogie.

Chambre Neuf

Chambre Nef
Chambre Nef

The only place to be for après in Cham, No Limits, the Swedish cover band have played there 6 nights a week (with the occasional change in the lineup) for as long as anyone can remember and everyone still comes back for more.

Expect table dancing, chants of ‘we are Chamonix’ and lots of sweat. We advise you change out of ski gear first.

Situated at the top end of town near the train station, Chambre Neuf is one of the favourite meeting places for locals and visitors alike. You’ll find tourists, alpinists, “extreme skiers” and plenty of Scandinavians meeting to talk about their days at altitude.

La Folie Douce

La Folie Douce Chamonix

One of the only ski in, ski out bars in Chamonix, on the lower, green Brevent pistes. There is an afternoon apres party from 4pm till 8pm and a cocktail bar that runs the evening sessions. A great place to end your day but perhaps not quite as lively as it’s Folie Douce counterparts in other resorts. It is primarily a hotel after all.

Elevation 1904

Elevation is opposite both the train station and Chambre Neuf, a great location on one of the best apres streets in Chamonix, Avenue Michel Croz. This is where many of the local ski guides meet after a day on the mountains, so you know it must be good.

Leave your skis at the door and grab a seat in the cosy interior if you’re lucky, but there’s heaters outside if you’re out on the terrace.

La Terrasse

La Terrasse - Chamonix apres ski bar

Hovering over the river, La Terrasse commands a very central location in Chamonix with stunning views of Mont Banc. You’ll be able to spot it from a mile off with the pink art deco facade. There’s always live music on the go and it’s a great place to get the party started.

Bar D’up

Bar D’up

Aussie bar vibes, from the outside (and inside) it feels very much like a shed, but Aussie vibes are also loose vibes so it promises to be a good night.

Bar’d Up has a warm and friendly atmosphere, with an international staff behind the bar. The laid-back attitude means that there is no dress code, so wear what you like and take it easy. They don’t serve food but you are welcome to get takeaway from the shop opposite and bring it in.

The Pub

The Pub

Does what it says on the tin. The best place to go in Cham if there’s sport on, although get there early to grab a seat.

The Pub has everything you look for in a typical British establishment – draught beers, footy on the big screen, friendly bar staff and… pies!

Chamonix Social Club

On the Rue Des Moulins which tends to get busy later in the evenings. Chamonix Social Club has resident and guest DJs most evenings and a wide range of cocktails. A great spot for a low key glass of wine in the early evenings before the crowds come in.

L’Amnesia

L’Amnesia
L’Amnesia

The name says it all really. Open until 4am, it is Chamonix’s most popular night club. Near the Aiguille du Midi gondola it has two rooms and great DJs.

As is typical in French night clubs, make sure you make the most of the bars beforehand, or you may end up spending close to a tenner on a bottle of beer.

After dark, L’Amnesia is hugely popular with holiday-makers, seasonaires and locals, and thus is a cocktail of French, Scandinavian and British. Put simply, if you are heading to L’Amnesia you are most certainly in for a fun and entertaining evening!!

Kitsch Inn

Kitsch Inn - apres ski bar in Les Houches

Over in Les Houches, this bar is right at the bottom of the slopes with a great retro interior. It’s open from 9am till 1am in the morning but it’s straight of the slopes when it really gets going with plenty of live music and entertainment.

Plus you can just hop on the shuttle buses back to Chamonix post party and still in time for tea.

Le Tof

The Tof Club
The Tof Club

If you’re a fan of ABBA and lively music this one for you.

It is known as the only gay bar in Chamonix, but it it not exclusive and everyone is welcome – just come and join the party! Friendly, slightly crazy, bar staff and a regular crowd of locals and seasonal workers mean that it is busy pretty much every night of the week.

Monkey

Monkey

The classic Chamonix Apres Ski bar. Great tunes and happy hours from 16h-18h on beer and wine and 22h-23h on cocktails. Seasonnaire parties monthly and they are not lying with the tag line ‘v generous bar tenders’. Also, don’t miss their Taco Tuesday.
