St Anton, like all other ski resorts, is mainly about skiing, but St Anton does have plenty of alternatives for those St Anton non skiers activities.

If you fancy a day off the slopes, here is a great selection of activities for you.

Tobogganing

St Anton Tobogganing

Tobogganing is a popular activity in St Anton.

With a 4 km lit sledge run from Gampen past the Rodelhutte down to Nasserein and the Rodelstall.

The 2.5-mile run begins on the Gampen and goes right down to the valley.

The course takes about 15 minutes to complete and has a vertical elevation of 1,670 feet (500 metres).

It’s free to go on the toboggan run, and toboggans can be hired from many of the ski hire shops in town.

Fancy seeing St Anton from a different perspective?

Then take a romantic horse-drawn carriage with the lovely Wachter family.

Choose from a magical ride through the snowy Verwall Valley taking in all the nature or simply ride around the beautiful town of St Anton.

Find your peace of mind whilst being shown the sites all from a cosy carriage.

Rides are 45 minutes to an hour long and cost €100 for up to 4 people, additional people after that are €25 pp.

It is appointment only so make sure you call to book.

Cross-country skiing

St Anton is now a well-known cross-country skiing destination.

The Tyrol region in Austria has over 40 kilometres of trails for cross-country skiers to explore.

There different levels of trails ranging in difficulty from the comfortable to the more athletically challenging with easy access and good signage.

If you want to try a different type of walking then snowshoeing is a great idea.

There are plenty of options in St Anton, not only can you choose from the pistes and cross-country trails but there are also cleared and marked paths which lead your way into the snow-covered mountains giving you some time to relax and take in the stunning surroundings.

In the entire Arlberg area, there are over 70km of hiking paths cleared, we recommend the nice 3km walk around St Anton.

Ten Pin Bowling

If the weather isn’t working in your favour and you want to keep the kids occupied then bowling is a great option.

Inside the Arl Rock sports centre, you’ll find the bowling alley.

There’s a bar inside that serves food and drink and in the evenings you can do choose the ‘moonlight bowling’ option.

Flight Connection and Parapowder offer paragliding solo and tandem flights and giving you the chance to see parts of the mountain that are completely untouched and remote.

Swimming/Fitness/Sauna

If you don’t fancy skiing one day or you just want to relax why not head to the Wellness Centre in the heart of St Anton.

The Arlberg-well Centre has both indoor and heated outdoor pools; the indoor pool has a flume, a waterfall and whirlpool and also a children’s pool for the little ones.

There are sauna facilities too, choose from saunas, a steam bath, massage showers, 2 solariums and even a wellness zone on the roof so you can opt for the dry heat sauna or the outdoor relaxation lounge all whilst overlooking the mountain scenery.

Lastly, there’s the fitness studio, if you want to keep your fitness up whilst on holiday then there’s a fully equipped gym with workout classes available and the option for messages.

There a plenty of types of massages on offer from aromatherapy massages, sports massages and reflexology.

Ice skating & Curling

In front of the Arlberg-well Centre, there’s an ice skating rink. Here you can choose from skating or curling during the winter season.

The rink is open every day, skating is available from 1pm-5.30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and from 1pm-8pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Curling is available on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6.30pm-9.30pm. Curling must be booked in advance.

To skate its €4 per adult, €3 per child, skates are €4 per adult, €3 per child and to curl its €33 pp for a party of 4, €4 pp for additional people and you get the rink for 90 minutes.

Inside the Arl Rock centre, there are now tennis and squash courts.

These courts can be converted into football pitches or a volleyball court.

You can hire the all the equipment you’ll need inside the centre so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own.
