Latest Snow Conditions in The Alps

Happy New Year!

First of all, a big welcome to 2023 – let’s hope its going to be a good one.

The start to our season has not been the greatest and whilst early December conditions were excellent, the unseasonably warm temperatures of late have had an impact on some ski resorts.

With negative press coverage about slope closures, long lift queues and spring conditions, it has been far from ideal. Despite this however, judging by the feedback from our recently-travelled customers, conditions have in fact allowed for some wonderful festive skiing.

Conditions in the Alps have been very spring like but despite negative press, there is still plenty of fantastic skiing for all.

What’s Happening?

As at 04/01/2023
Val d’Isere is skiing well
The Espace Killy:

Val d’Isere & Tignes continue to offer great conditions. All links are open and the majority of runs offer good skiing. There are some closures and however 85% of the slopes remain open.

The Portes du Soleil

Has unfortunately been hit hard. Most Morzine & Les Gets lifts are closed however conditions in Avoriaz, whilst busy, are very good with 75% of slopes open. Satellite resort links are running.

The Three Valleys has all connections open
The Three Valleys

Unsurprisingly, Val Thorens has the best snow, and the higher levels of Courchevel are also excellent. All 3V links are open but the lower slopes of Meribel & St Martin are closed.

The Arlberg

Is also fairing well. The majority of lifts in Lech are open and whilst the lower slopes of St Anton are suffering, skiing of the circuit is good. Some lifts are closed including Valluga, albeit this is often closed at the best of times!

The Grand Massif
Paradiski looking good!

The resorts of the Grand Massif & Chamonix are sadly suffering. However there’s some great skiing to have and parts of Flaine have some great conditions. Links are open.

The Paradiski

Is currently excellent. Les Arcs & La Plagne are shouting from the rooftops about their conditions and there is a lot of skiing to be had by all. Just the odd lifts/piste closure here & there.

THE SNOW IS COMING

Do not fear, increased snowfall is on its way.

It is forecast right across The Alps and conditions will be back to normal before we know it. We recommend you stick to the larger, higher resorts for the moment however be assured, the lower altitude resorts are doing everything they can to be fully open as quickly as possible. In the meantime, they are opening up hiking trails and mountain-bike routes.

We can’t help feeling though that this is going to be short-lived. We will all be skiing the powder before we know it.
