How About Summer in The French Alps this year?

If you are feeling frustrated about missing your winter ski holiday last season, might this be the year to try a summer in the French Alps ski holiday?

The great news is that ski resorts have been given the go-ahead to open up their summer skiing. After a winter of heavy snowfall, the glaciers will be in excellent condition so lets get you on your way.

Summer Glacier Skiing in The Alps

Summer Skiing – Which Resorts?

The first resort to open will be Les Deux Alpes who will start their lifts on Saturday 29th May. This superb resort boasts Europe’s biggest skiable glacier. Their 30km of slopes will be open from 7am to 12.30pm every day. With skiing suitable for all levels of skier, this really is a brilliant option. There’s also a beginner’s area and snowpark.

The next resort to open will be Val d’Isere from 12th June to 11th July. Glacier skiing here is a little more limited and with a cap on just 600 lift tickets a day, skiers are advised to book in advance.

Mountain Biking in The Alps

Tignes will be the third and final area to open on 19th June. They plan to remain open until 1st August. This glacier is truly impressive and with a huge array of other mountain activities available, this is a great option for true adrenaline junkies. How about some paragliding into the lake?!

Adrenaline Sports Resorts:

For those of you looking for other Summer Alpine activities, you might want to consider the resorts of Chamonix, Alpe d’Huez, Megeve, Serre Chevalier or Morzine. All of these are set up for an amazing summer adventure with activities including mountain biking, trail-hiking, tennis, climbing & golf. And the ultimate thrill – The Fantasticable Zip Wire in The Portes du Soleil!

The Fantasticable in Chatel

We fully expect France to be added to the Green List soon, perhaps as early as mid-June. Remember to research the entry requirements of the country you are visiting. Currently France requires a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arriving and also a period of isolation. However the signs are that this will soon be lifted – let’s hope this will be in time for the start of your Summer in the French Alps adventure!
